Umeå University signs with Peltarion for conducting AI business research and building competence around AI

April 13

The Peltarion platform is an operational AI platform that allows its users to build, train and deploy deep learning models at scale and at speed. The no-code platform lowers the cost and skill requirement usually associated with AI adaption, making it a leader in the shift towards the democratization of AI.

The Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI) at Umeå University conducts research and education focusing on society's digitalization and as a consequence of the fact that many contexts are now penetrated by digital technology, their subject spans a variety of areas, from studying the importance of digitalization for the public sector, to the organization of work, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, trade, healthcare and more.

    About the initiative

Umeå University recently established their Swedish Center for Digital Innovation AI Business Lab, which aims at being a resource for conducting AI business research and for facilitating workshops with external partners to build competence around AI. SCDI will showcase how traditional industries can transform their business by leveraging AI to solve complex problems.

To accomplish this, SCDI needed a tool that allowed them to continuously build and work with AI solutions. After having been introduced and informed about the Peltarion research team at a number of different research contexts with other Universities, SCDI started testing the platform and quickly landed in the decision of teaming up with Peltarion.

“My Post-doctorates tried Peltarion and were very impressed. From a research perspective our needs are slightly different compared to Peltarion's regular customers, but our need of visualization of complex amounts of data is a common denominator.”

Jonny Holmström, professor in informatics at Umeå University and co-director for SCDI
